Enroll: Interactive + Kinetic + Arduino Brooklyn, NY
|
Description: Interactive +Kinetic +Arduino Interactive + Kinetic + Arduino is a 8wk/24hr intensive focused on the fusion of Interactivity + Kinetic + Arduino. I chose to use the Arduino as the microcontroller due to the availability of information, schematics, kits and documentation available. Its up to the student the scope of the project and usage. This class is very exciting as it brings many different students together with different levels of technology and creative backgrounds. This is a great incubation and think tank much like my experience at NYU ITP and my own work. I suggest the student plan to build a working prototype of there final vision. All the students will become proficient on there knowledge base of research, gathering information and funding for creative technology projects. everything from A to Z (from research to funding).

Description: Intro to Metal Shop + Sculpture Intro to Metal Shop + Sculpture is an entry level class to the shop and sculpture. It is a 3wk/9hr intensive where becoming familiar with the shop, the tools set, learning about safety and becoming comfortable using the tools is the priority where we spend most of the time focusing on processes. Each student is provided with 20' of steel where i advise the student to transform that 20' into a 1' interactive object that is interesting and provocative. I have had a variety of students generate a wide variety of interesting and provocative works as well have a great time learning the processes. There are (2) outside work days.

MARP provides the bridge between the student and the MARP business owner. Once installed MARP provides advertising, promotions and a brochure (denoting the locations of the works). If the work sells the student obtains 100% commission (most galleries retain 40% to 60% of sales) . This is a unique opportunity to learn about art negotiations, making a proposal, building, installing and commission sales. There are (8) outside work days.

Starting with the origional (4) December 2009 proposals. Phase 1 Solar Powered (6) unit radio boom box version (SP6BB) (3) sub formats, 3D CAD designs, visuals, descriptions and fiscal budgets. (SP6BB) was pitched to NYC Art in the Parks then forward to (4) Brooklyn parks then accepted by Prospect Park Board Alliance (PPBA) in August 2010. Upon review of (SPBB) I was asked by (PPBA) to upgrade the audio system platform, to meet additional structural changes, upgradeds and provide engineering proofs. I researched (3) audio platforms (isurris , MPeg3 and wifi) and found wifi the most stable per the environmental demands. I then developed Phase 2: a Solar Powered (6) unit wifi boom box version (SP6WIFIBB), I resubmitted (SP6WIFIBB) to the NYC Art in the Parks (2) formats a (3) & (7) days solar design in February 2011.
